Friends: Register your team of five friends, family members, neighbors, colleagues, running buddies or race rivals to divide and conquer the 26.2 mile relay course that is broken into five legs of 10k, 11.1k, 11.1k, 5k, and 5k.
Family Fun: This is a family event! There are kids' activities, free food and drink and a beer garden for the adults. So, not only is the course fun and the format a blast, but you don't want to miss the party on Town Lake's Auditorium Shores (950 W. Riverside Dr).
Philanthropy: The Relay benefits Junior Achievement of Central Texas which teaches children financial literacy skills and the importance of staying in school. JA brings members of the business community into grade school classrooms across the Austin area to help educate our children and build leadership skills. Donate to one of the Team JA Runners, to help them raise money to further Junior Achievement's efforts in Austin.
Fitness: This relay is a great way to kick-off your fall running season and prepare for the Distance Challenge series. Run the relay with a friend and challenge yourself to a half-marathon, or split it up among your buddies to get more friends involved.
Premiering this year, the Roger Beasley Porsche Sub 2 Challenge, powered by RunTex, will award $100,000 to the team that can set a record pace at the Silicon Labs Austin Marathon Relay on September 21 and clock a final time of less than two hours on the 26.2 mile course. If the world’s best athletes come together to meet this challenge, it will be the fastest time ever recorded in this type of race format.
